Dad’s Garage Conservatory Program is an audition-only training program for students who are ready to take their improv to the next level.

Program Details

Welcome to the Dad’s Garage Conservatory Program - the premiere improv training program in the southeast. Our program is designed for the most dedicated and advanced performers and led by our most seasoned educators.

The Conservatory will meet every Sunday 2 - 4:30 PM, and perform in the Tuesday nights Community Jams. Be ready to meet every Sunday afternoon and most Tuesday evenings!

The Program will begin Sunday March 23rd and run till the end of October. The price of the program is $1200, and that is due on March 23rd.

Program Highlights:

Dad’s 101: Learn how to perform, produce, and develop improv in the Dad’s Garage style. Dad’s Garage formats include Murder She Improvised, Scandal, Improvised Dungeons and Dragons and more!

Ensemble Building: Embrace the true spirit of improv through collaborative ensemble building. Forge strong connections with your fellow advanced improvisers, creating a supportive community that celebrates individuality and collective success.

Advanced Improv Skills: Through personalized feedback, learn advanced improv techniques and theory, taking your improv to the next level.

Narrative: Story structure, characters, acting and genre are only a few of the things covered in our program - challenging you to push the boundaries of what's possible in the world of improv.

The Show: Elevate your improv, define your style, and become a master of the craft through weekly performances at our community nights as well as three larger shows throughout the program. You will create your own format as well as learn formats from outside of Dad’s Garage.

Conservatory Members have the opportunity to:

Audition for Dad’s Garage mainstage shows
Perform weekly at Community Nights
Host Community Jams
Involvement in special events at Dad’s Garage
Potential mainstage performances October - December
Shadow directors, technical improvisers, teachers and more
Teach at our youth summer camps
Work with a wide variety of Dad’s Garage Ensemble members

Pre-Requisites for Conservatory:

To become a student of the Dad's Garage Conservatory, you must have trained in one of the following ways before auditions:

Taken and completed Levels 1-4 at Dad’s Garage Theatre Company. It is also recommended (but not required) that Dad’s Garage students take Level 5.

OR

Completed at least one year of improv training at an approved school. Examples of approved schools:

UCB

iO Theater

Whole World Improv Theatre
