Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy was last updated on and is effective as of December 18, 2018.

Overview:

Our lawyers made us write this privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy” or “Policy”) because we’re a legit business, and we have to play by the rules made up by corporate types. There’s a lot to read here, but here’s the most important stuff you probably want to know:

We do not share your email with other companies, so rest assured you won’t be getting a bunch of dumb spam because you sign up for our newsletter.

We do not share your phone number with other companies, because we too hate getting robocalls on our cell phones.

Whenever you place a credit card order with us, whether online, over the phone, or in person, we use super-fancy security encoders that help keep your information safe.

Our ticketing system will store some of your personal information to make checkout quicker on subsequent visits.

We track some user-specific IP data, like what links bring you to Dad’s Garage, what pages you visit, and how often you visit. This is all done anonymously, so we don’t know your personal information, because that’s weird and Big Brother-y.

The Not-So-Small Print:

tl;dr – All of this is meant to make your experience better, not to harvest your information to sell to the maker of Shake Weight (TM).

This Privacy Policy applies to the Dad’s Garage, Inc.’s family of Sites, including www.dadsgarage.com and other Sites created by us for special initiatives or other reasons (collectively the “Sites”).  When you use any of our Sites, you consent to the use of your personal information by us in the manner specified in this Privacy Policy. The primary purpose of this Sites is to provide information regarding Dad’s Garage Theatre Company, not to gather personal information. We do, however, gather information that is described below. The information we collect is used to improve the content of our Sites, to notify consumers about updates to our Sites, to process consumer purchase transactions, and to contact consumers for marketing purposes. Also, the purpose of this policy is to make you laugh a little bit, because we could all use a bit of levity in our lives. So, read on…

INFORMATION GATHERED

tl;dr – Whenever you do something on the internet, that information is stored. Welcome to the future.

We collect the domain name of visitors to our Sites, the e-mail addresses of those who provide it to us or who communicate with us via e-mail, aggregate information on what pages consumers access or visit us from, and information volunteered by the consumer, such as contact information, survey information and/or Sites registrations. You may volunteer to provide us information when you choose to register with one of our Sites, become a member of one of our divisions, purchase items or order tickets, join our newsletter list, make a donation, sign up for a course or training, participate in a survey, or contact us with your questions or comments.

IP ADDRESSES

tl;dr – IP addresses are like your calling card. But don’t worry, it’s still anonymous. But, yeah, we track that stuff.

For each visitor to our Sites, our Web server automatically recognizes the visitor’s domain name or Internet Protocol address. An Internet Protocol (“IP”) address is a number that is automatically assigned to every computer connected to the Internet. When visitors visit pages from our Sites, our servers log the visitors’ IP addresses. We do not normally link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, which means that a visitor’s session will be logged, but the visitor remains anonymous to us. We collect IP addresses for the purposes of system administration and to evaluate how our Sites are used. We also use IP addresses to collect statistical information for marketing and promotional purposes. We may use IP addresses to identify a user when we believe it is necessary to enforce compliance with the terms governing use of our Sites or to protect our services, sites, customers, or others. This is just how the internet works and there’s no way around it!

COOKIES

tl;dr – We are very sorry we can’t send you chocolate chip cookies. Instead, we use digital cookies to store your preferences. We can send you you a good chocolate chip cookie recipe if you want. Just email us.

A cookie is a small text file that is created in the computer’s hard drive that gives the user a unique, random ID. This ID enables the Sites to readily recognize each visitor on a subsequent visit to the sites. For example, a cookie may indicate the preferences selected by a visitor on a prior visit and facilitate more efficient browsing on subsequent visits. We use cookies to store visitor preferences (to make visiting our Sites easier), to record session information (such as items that consumers add to their shopping cart), and to record user-specific information on what pages users access or visit (to see which pages are popular and which are not). If you reject the cookie (who says NO to cookies? They are delicious!), you may still use our Sites, but you will not have access to any part of the Sites that require you to log in.

USE OF INFORMATION

tl;dr – All of this is meant to make your experience better, not to harvest your information to sell to the maker of Shake Weight (TM).

The information you provide to us will be used to operate our Sites and to deliver the services you have requested (e.g., to send you the newsletters you requested, to respond appropriately to your inquiries, or to send you the products you purchased).

We may also use the information to conduct market research studies and reports. We may share the information you provided in aggregate (nonpersonally identifiable) form with third parties.

In addition, if you supply us with your postal address on-line or your e-mail address (except as provided below), you may receive periodic mailings or e-mails from us with information on new services and upcoming events. Other than for the limited exceptions noted in this Policy, we do not share your email with other companies, so rest assured you won’t be getting a bunch of dumb spam because you sign up for our newsletter.

Persons who supply us with their telephone numbers on-line may receive telephone contact from us with information regarding new products, services and upcoming events. We will NOT share your telephone number with any other organizations. When you purchase items or tickets on one of our Sites, we will have to share the information you disclose at the time you make the purchase with: 1) the shipper for purposes of delivering products and 2) the credit card processor for purposes of collecting money for purchases. We also reserve the right to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request or to cooperate with law enforcement and other authorities in investigating a claim of illegal activity. With respect to Ad Servers: We do not partner with nor have special relationships with any ad server companies. Heck, we don’t even know what an ad server company does besides tell us how to buy all natural Viagra (it doesn’t work, trust us).

OPTION TO RESTRICT THE USE OF INFORMATION

tl;dr – Please just send us an email if you want to break up with us.

If you do not wish to receive mailings, e-mail, or telephone calls from us in the future, please let us know by sending us an e-mail to tickets@dadsgarage.com. Please provide us with your exact name and address. We will be sure your name and personal contact information is removed from the list. We promise we won’t take it personally if you break up with us!

CHANGES TO THE USE OF INFORMATION

tl;dr – Everything is changing so fast! Have you ever bought a phone and then like a new one comes out the next month? Yeah, that happens… so if the internet changes, what we do on the back end may change.

From time to time, we may use customer information for new or unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our Policy.  If our information practices described in this Policy change, we will post a revised Policy for our Sites at the top of this page, which will also note the date the Policy was last updated and its effective date.  Customers may prevent their information from being used for purposes other than those for which the information was originally collected by us by sending us an e-mail at tickets@dadsgarage.com.  So, if communicating by carrier pigeon comes back into fashion, the way we use your information may change.

ACCESS AND REVIEW OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Upon request we will provide a Site visitor with access to all personal information that we collect through our Sites about such visitor. A visitor can access this information and have it updated by sending us an e-mail at tickets@dadsgarage.com.

LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

tl;dr – Links are not endorsements. Retweets are not endorsements. We’re just trying to be nice, okay!

This Policy only addresses our use and disclosure of your personal information. Our Sites may contain links to websites operated by other persons, which links are provided as a convenience to visitors to our Sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites, and we are not liable for their use of personal information. So please, if someone on Tinder says they love Dad’s Garage and then you go on a bad date with them… don’t take it out on us, okay? We encourage you to carefully read the privacy policies of any other websites that you may visit from our Sites.  Links to other websites do not imply our endorsement of the products or services, or privacy or security practices, of those other websites.

SECURITY

tl;dr – We are trying our best to keep things as safe as possible. Barring solar flares, alien invasions, or other unknown unknowns… we’ll keep your stuff private.

When we transfer and receive certain types of sensitive information such as financial information, we redirect visitors to a secure server for the transfer of data. We use reasonable security measures in our physical facilities to help protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our Sites.

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or any information provided through our Sites, and you do so at your own risk. We will not be liable for disclosures of your personal information due to errors in transmission or unauthorized acts of third parties. However, once we receive your information from such transmission, we will make reasonable efforts to ensure its security on our systems. Seriously, in the case of alien invasion, all bets are off when it comes to cyber-security.
